Decorative andIntricate, this carved Pine surround requires a modicum of further restoration work to provide a spectacular focal point. Produced in the George III style with a Greek Key decoration to the jams and frieze, the surround is believed to date to about 1820. The tiled insert is believed to date to around 1884 and to have been specially made to showcase the Italian design hand made tiles depicting Spring and Autumn which are thought to be early nineteenth century, the central tile panel being a later addition at 1884.
